Who can play lacrosse in the SLA?
Our Rising Stars program starts at 3 years old and is a stick only program designed to teach lacrosse fundamentals while having fun!
Our school-aged program includes boys and girls from 1st through 8th grade.
WHEN IS THE LACROSSE SEASON?
Lacrosse is a Spring sport. Our practices start when the fields are ready, usually in early April, and games will begin the first week of April and continue until mid-June.
Do you have other seasonal programs?
The SLA usually runs Fall and Winter clinics for both boys and girls. Keep an eye out for information.
When are games and practices?
Most 8U and 10U teams have practice twice a week, usually on weeknights. Games are also on weeknights with some weekend games.
12U and 14U teams have practice 2-3 times a week and games on weeknights and weekends.
What teams do we play?
The SLA is a member of the Connecticut Valley Youth Lacrosse league. We play both home and away games against other CVYL teams which may include West Hartford, Farmington, Wethersfield, etc. Teams do occasionally play out-of-league games against teams from the local area.
Will there be tryouts?
8U and 10U are developmental programs to teach our youngest athletes the fundamentals of lacrosse and game play, they do not have tryouts.
12U and 14U teams do have tryouts. Our evaluation policy is linked HERE. Our goal with evaluating our players is to put them on the team which will help them, as an athlete grow and develop.

What is a jamboree?
A jamboree is a lacrosse tournament lasting one or two days where each team plays multiple games.
